The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change. Digital Channels Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users. It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
